Today was just nutso at work. It has been for awhile. I had to go to a kid's house after school today to interview him and his mom and ended up being there for two hours. I got home at 7PM, ate a scrambled egg, and am trying to unwind so I can do it all again tomorrow. That's when I learn that we have a jam-packed weekend, including a family thing I forgot about (which has to cancel out the planned friend thing), and that the family thing is supposed to include a gift exchange. Well, that would be fine if I were done shopping for the family, but I'm not.
Also, I still have to hang a curtain rod (picking up the drill bit from my daddy tomorrow), paint a lamp, hang a print, pick out frames, hang a mirror, paint curtains, and finalize wedding pictures to print. Good grief! I'm definitely feeling overwhelmed and I'm trying to eat my elephant one bite at a time.
What do you do when you feel overwhelmed by a project?

Have a drink. I'm not even kidding. Here's what I do exactly:
1. For one hour after I get home, work non-stop. Do dishes, pick up the living room, wipe down the counters, Swiffer the floor -- whatever you can do in one hour.
2. STOP doing anything. Have something REALLY easy for dinner (I keep a frozen pizza on hand for this) and pop in a movie. Have the hubs make you your favorite drink (my husband always makes them stronger...that's the secret ha).
3. Eat pizza, watch movie, drink said drink. Snuggle with said husband.
4. After the movie, write out a list. Each day before the even in question gets a list of what needs to be done on that day. Then make a list for each store you have to visit before that event and what you need to get there.
5. GO TO BED. Everything is written down and planned out, so hopefully your brain should quiet down enough for you to sleep.
6. And finally, DELEGATE. My husband gets very specific lists. It might take him longer to do something, but it doesn't matter because it still saves time in that I don't have to do it.
7. And finally, deep breaths. Get your nails done, get a haircut, go to a yoga class. Do something entirely self-indulgent so you don't start feeling resentful.
That's all I got ha. Hope it helps!

Justine,
Thank you so much for all the advice!! I will definitely keep it in mind, along with that bottle of tequilia in the cupboard...
